Always carry around a tissue or two (or a whole packet if you’re that well prepared) because not every country has the same love affair that you do with toilet paper.
You can also choose to carry around an entire roll of toilet paper, but that’s like wearing a fanny pack around your forehead.

Also, if you’re in a country that uses male/female symbols on the door other than ones you’re used to, try to decipher those symbols before you walk into the bathroom. I used a mens’ room in Poland! Circles and triangles! When you’re drunk and jetlagged it’s impossible to know which you are. I guessed incorrectly.
