I know a “travel Betty” you should know about:
Barbara Hodgson

She has two books that you’d like.

The first is the newer one, Trading in Memories. It’s a collection of travel essays and ephemera that Barbara has collected from antique shops, bazaars and markets from around the world. The book shows pieces in her collection, including photos from Paris markets, c. 1890; an engraving of Pierre Loti, April 3, 1892; minerals and fossils from Dr. DH Wilsone’s collection, 1836.

She is a cool woman traveler:

Her second book is No Place for a Lady, which traces 300 years of women world travelers.
