Hi Rana,

Thanks for stopping by. Ooooh, I'd definitely book an extra night. I never felt unsafe in Egypt, but you don't want to be hanging around the airport by yourself like that. It gets pretty deserted and it'd just plain be uncomfortable to boot.

Have a blast on your trip!

We are 2 girls traveling on a Tour in Egypt beginning the 23rd..
My girlfriend is coming in to Cairo on Thursday 22 at night(She's coming directly from London). Our hotel is not scheduled to be available until I arrive on Friday afternoon. I'm really stressing that she's going to be wandering for 12 hours or more at night... Do you think she can hang out at the airport for such a long time? Or should we book an extra night.

I'd appreciate your suggestion.

That sounds fantastic, Susan! Borneo, wow. I wanna go.

You should definitely do Egypt next. It'll be a totally different, but equally wild experience.

Just returned from an AMAZING independant trip to Sabah Borneo. Stayed in the jungle, saw wild ornagutangs, giant tarantula's, frogs, birds, monkeys. Then dived on Sipidan Island...now that's a holiday!

My friend wants me to do Egypt next!

Hi Jenee-g,

Thanks for stopping by! My understanding is that they are not ALL pricey as there are a handful of different dahabiyya companies operating with different levels of service. I would suggest contacting Egypt 7000 (or another travel company you are already working with) to get a quick quote before ruling them out entirely. You may be pleasantly surprised!

I would be interested in hearing what you find out though. We got a total quote for our 5 week trip, so I didn't know how each option broke down exactly. I DO know that I was jealous watching dahabiyyas float past us while we were on our run-down 5-star deluxe Nile cruise ship.

Heya!

Thx for your response to my quest for appropriate transport on the Nile on Thorn Tree! Interested to see yr in SF too! Anyway, aren't the dahabiyyas super pricey though? I was hoping for something between a felucca & a 4-story cruise ship, price & accommodation-wise, for the Aswan-Luxor trip. Any ideas?
