San Juan Marriott Resort is Giving Away Free Nights

I got tipped off to a holiday promotion taking place over the next few days for the San Juan Marriott Resort (that’s in Puerto Rico, y’all!). They’re hosting a daily photo scavenger hunt on Twitter that could leave you with a handful of free nights for use in 2010, which isn’t too shabby, especially if you were planning to visit PR next year anyway. (Bioluminescent Bay anyone?)

Good luck (especially since you’ll be competing against me)! There are only 4 days left to enter.

A delightful little farmer’s market right near the water. They’ve got your typical fresh fruits and veggies, your hot food options, cheeses, meats, organic honeys, live music (of the drum-circle variety when we were there), palm readers, crafts, soaps, candles, doo rags, and swarms of bees near the trash cans. If you’re visiting Olympia and don’t know quite where to go, this is the place.

First And Last Trip Photos: Egypt

I love when someone’s trip photos really capture the essence of a place and give a story about that particular person’s journey. However, I’ve noticed that usually the first picture I shoot is pretty random (and lame!). It’s just something to get me started and get me used to my camera again. Rarely is it anything I’d share.

The interesting thing about a last shot is that you don’t know it’s going to be the last shot when you take it. Whether you end up taking it in the airport on your way back or three days before your trip actually ends, you probably think there will be something else photo-worthy before you get home. But then you’re back home and there it is. The last shot. When you look through your trip photo folder it will always signify the end.

Here are mine from my trip to Egypt:

First: Behold, the beautiful carnation decorating our room at the Movenpick Resort Cairo-Pyramids!

Last: A funky menu at Abdou’s restaurant in Siwa Town.
